Brazil is a vast country with a vibrant culture. It is one of the fastest developing nations in the world, and it has become a popular tourist destination. However, even with the great development, there is a huge gap between Brazil’s economic “upper class” and the rest of the country; and the gap is growing at an alarming rate. The percentage of Brazilians that live below the poverty line has nearly tripled in the last decade, and more than 12 million people live in the “favelas” (the densely-populated slums and shantytowns).

Brazil holds a special place in our hearts because it was the nation where Bethany sent its first missionaries, more than seven decades ago. Since then, we’ve helped plant multiple churches and launched several missionary training schools that have sent out missionaries to other nations. Your team will have the opportunity to help expand the influence of local church plants through a variety of different types of Gospel ministry.
