New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans is a fun and vibrant city, with a very eclectic culture. For many years, it has been a popular tourist destination. In 2005, the city was hit by Hurricane Katrina. The storm killed more than 1,500 people, displaced tens of thousands, and caused billions of dollars in damage. New Orleans has never recovered. Today, 30% of residents live in poverty (including 44% of children under age 5). The homeless population has exploded. Gang activity and crime have increased significantly. Tourism dollars have decreased.

Bethany has partnered with several local churches and organizations. Your team will feed the homeless, teach the Bible to kids, participate in camps, and tangibly serve families that are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina through painting and participating in clean-up projects. New Orleans is a great mission trip option for all types of groups.
