France

Throughout world history, France has been instrumental in philosophy, art, science, and religion. During the 15th and 16th centuries, France played a significant role in both the Renaissance and the Protestant Reformation. Today, 62% of the people profess to be Catholic, but only 5% attend church regularly, and even fewer believe the Bible to be true.

Since 2009, Bethany has been sending missionaries to Marseille, a very influential port city in south France that has been at the center of Mediterranean trade for more than 2,600 years. Marseille is unapologetically French, but it continues to see an influx of immigrants and refugees from North Africa and the Middle East, turning the city into a cultural and religious melting pot. Bethany’s missionaries have opportunities to minister to French people that have lost their faith, many immigrants from unreached people groups, and a rapidly-growing Muslim population. Your group will serve alongside our long-term workers and interns to minister to individuals through café ministry, personal evangelism, and other highly-relational forms of ministry.
